Rather than stretch a preconnect, and keep adding to it until you had enough hose to get from the engine to the boat, why not take one or two sections of hose and the portable pump? You have a heck of a water source there and a very easy draft. |

because,if theirs fuel in the water it doesn't put the fire out!!
don't know about most dept. but we don't have a portable pump for firefighting! we can draft.

Good job...A fire boat would of been great help..... But just like my dept, most done have one... And wonder if they did have one how long it would of took to get it there? |

I have seen and used a turbo draft before. I haven't used one on a working fire yet, but I have in training. My station's second due tanker carries one. |

A bunch of the departments in my county, including the one i'm on, got them through a grant ... helluva nice way to get a tanker fill site going when you're WAY out there in the good ol' boondocks. Not sure about using it for directly supplying the main pumper.

Kinda surprised nobody's complained about these guys not having their water wings on, what with them being in such close proximity to a large body of water  .

Portable pump off a brush unit is the way to go if your department has one. Fuel in the water?? If there is that much fuel in the water you have a whole other problem on your hands.
I've never heard of, nor seen, a TurboDraft. I'm really surprised that this department wouldn't have a fire boat of some kind having a harbor or harbors in their district. Even a small rescue boat with a portable pump mounted in it would be sufficient.
I almost forgot; good work guys! At least the boat was next to the dock.

Boy, I am thinking deck gun from up at the road while the crew pulls and extends the line out the dock.
Also, what do people think about throwing a rope across from the land to the dock and pulling the hose straight across rather then all the way dow the dock? Or maybe using another boat to take the line out to the dock?
Why is it the the boat on fire is always at the end of the dock?

Looks like a great job was done by the brothers in Buffalo. I don't know how many of you all have had to fight a marina fire, but they suck. The ones on fire always seem to be near or at the end of the dock and are always down the longest dock.  Thats means long stretches and plenty of places for the hose to kink or get caught up. Nobody was running around and they got the fire put out before it spread to the whole marina. |

no docks here.. they have all burned off or sunk, long ago. Suprised there has been no talk about PFD's???? or Why the 2 1/2... Not bashing, just funny to see a change in what people are talking about... Im l old by saying, I remember the day when all we did on here was bash each other and say our way is better. LOL...
